Hours: 5/10's

Shift: Day

Requirements: TWIC CARD AND PIN REQUIRED, long sleeves, steel toe boots, clean shaven, NCCER Certified, exp. must be verified.

 

 

 

Summary: Installs and removes various instrumentation, such as indicators, recorders, telemetry, controllers, transmitters, transducers and analyzers used to measure and control variables, such as pressure, flow and temperature.  This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Reads and works from related blueprints and other schematic drawings.
  • Installs and/or removes various instrumentation devices.
  • Cuts, bends and installs tubing needed for the proper installation of the instrumentation device.
  • May steam trace lines when necessary.
  • May install flanges and oriface plates.
  • May repair steam traps.
  • May perform other duties neecessary in order to remove, install or troubleshoot instrumentation devices.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities - May directly supervises 1 to 5 instrument fitter helpers in the Operations Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Austin Industrial’s policies & procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

Reasoning Ability -Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills - Computer skills are not required for this position.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Depending on the job site, certain certificates or licenses may be required.

 

Other Skills and Abilities - For safety reasons, it is imperative that the employee be able to read and speak fluent English.

 

Other Qualifications - It may be necessary to travel or commute for this position.
