  • Overview

    Austin Industrial, Inc. is a leading General Contractor who provides construction, maintenance and plant services to a variety of industrial clients.  We are currently seeking an experienced Superintendent with a strong background in both Piping and Rigging. This will be for a six month construction job in Freeport, TX. 



    • Understand, comply with and lead the Austin/Client safety policies and procedures
    • Utilize and participate in Austin’s Accident Prevention Program including audits
    • Participate in Austin Safety Incentive Program
    • Automatic shutdown of work when any safety concerns arise
    • Participate in daily Austin safety meetings (Tool Box Meetings) and review & authorize.
    • Monitors safety performance and implements action to resolve any issues concerning safety
    • Audit Austin safety meetings for quality and content



    • Monitor QA/QC activities for conformity to Austin’s QA/QC processes
    • Take immediate action to resolve any and all quality related issues
    • Assure post-project performance evaluation of all assigned Austin Superintendents
    • Ensure that all work in field is meeting plans, specifications, codes and quality requirements


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Review “3 Week Look Ahead” schedule and manage with craft superintendents
    • Review monthly “Look Ahead” with project manager
    • Resolves conflicts which require management direction
    • Monitors and advises upon any schedule changes
    • Approves any additions to Austin’s scope of work
    • Approves material expenditures above Craft Superintendent authorization
    • Monitors daily progress
    • Ensure that discipline production goals are met
    • Monitor crew mix, crew mix rates to ensure within budget/estimate





    • Ensures that daily progress report to Austin Project Controls Manager meets requirements
    • Conduct daily project update meeting with Craft Superintendents
    • Participates and coordinates shift turnover meeting if applicable
    • Coordinates between Austin project staffing and Clients Coordinator



    • Monitors and reacts to budget and/or schedule implications
    • Reviews and approves manpower changes
    • Ensures that disciplinary action such as quality, attendance, safety, etc. process is followed
    • Ensures that required craft tools are available
    • Perform frequent/daily walks with Craft Superintendents to review safety, quality and accuracy of planned work performed.
    • Monitor permanent and temporary construction materials are sufficient to support the work.
    • Assist in monitoring project start/stop times



    • Must have 10 years field supervision experience as Craft Superintendent (overseeing civil, mechanical, E&I groups, etc.) and/or above. Must have supervised groups of over 80 people.
    • Must have solid knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel) to be able to manage required documentation and/or communication for daily workflow processes.
    • Experience in small cap construction projects required and strong experience with scheduling, planning, overall estimating, and billing.
